THOMPSON NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK

League’s Top Hitter Honored

Lancaster Stormers outfielder Jake Thompson has been honored as the Atlantic League Player of the Week for the May 18-24 time period, it was announced today by league officials.

Thompson played a key role in the Stormers’ current 11-game winning streak.  During the most recent series at Staten Island, the left-handed batter collected 13 hits in 25 at bats (.520).  He had three doubles, a triple, a homer and eight RBI.  In the process, Thompson scored 10 runs. 

His on-base percentage for the week was .613 and his slugging percentage was .840.

The native of Albert Lea, Minnesota currently leads the league with a .421 average, batting .525 in a current 10-game hitting streak.  He also is tops in the circuit in doubles (13), runs (34), hits (45) and OPS (1.212) while ranking second in slugging and third in on-base percentage.

Lancaster, presently leading the North Division by four games, travels to Southern Maryland to play the South-leading Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in a three-game series before Long Island comes to town to visit the Ironmasters on Lebanon County Weekend.
