STORMERS RE-SIGN ALPB VETERAN

Kelly to Play 12th Atlantic League Season

One of the Atlantic League’s longest tenured players will join the Lancaster Stormers for a second season.

Utility infielder Scott Kelly will play his 12th Atlantic League season overall in a Lancaster jersey, it was announced today by manager Ross Peeples.  He becomes the third player inked to play in Lancaster for the 2026 season.

Kelly, 34, initially joined the Somerset Patriots out of a local tryout camp in 2014.  He played six seasons with the Patriots, until the Patriots franchise was absorbed into the Eastern League heading into 2021.

Since then, the New Jersey resident has played for Charleston, Spire City and Long Island before joining the Stormers in the second half of the 2025 campaign.

Over his Atlantic League career, Kelly has appeared in 886 games (6th all-time), batting .246.  He holds the league record for career sacrifice bunts (75) and is third in being hit by pitches (93).  The versatile Kelly has played seven positions, missing only first base and duties behind the plate.

“Scott will be a utility player for us and play a little of everything,” said Peeples.  “He was a great addition last year, bringing a lot of energy both on and off the field.”

In another move, the Stormers have traded the rights to outfielder Ariel Sandoval to the Charleston Dirty Birds.  Sandoval was a member of the 2022 and 2023 championship teams and returned in 2025.  As a Stormer, the native of the Dominican Republic batted .316 with 24 homers and 124 RBI in 187 games.

The Stormers will open their 2026 campaign on April 21, taking on the defending champion York Revolution at WellSpan Park.  Three days later, Lancaster will entertain the Long Island Ducks for the home opener at Penn Medicine Park, in a game schedule for 6:45.
