MARTORELLA NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Lancaster First Baseman Led Club at Staten Island

Lancaster Stormers first baseman Nathan Martorella was named the Atlantic League Player of the Week for the week ending August 16, it was announced today by league officials.

He is the first Lancaster player honored with a weekly league award since the first four weeks of the presentations, during which Lancaster had the Player of the Week (Jake Thompson, Tyler Miller) or Pitcher of the Week (Luke Albright, Quinton Martinez) each time.

The left-handed first baseman went 12-for-27 (.444) over the six-game series at Staten Island last week.  He rapped out five doubles and had three homers while driving in 14 runs.  He had a pair of five-RBI performances during the week.

Martorella has shown a tendency to perform well in New York State, having previously hit six home runs in 12 games played at Fairfield Properties Ballpark on Long Island.
