Right-Hander Honored for Sunday Gem
Luke Albright has been named the Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week for the May 12-17 time period, it was announced today by league officials.
Albright was given the award following his stellar performance against the High Point Rockers on Sunday afternoon. The Indiana native worked eight innings of shutout baseball. He yielded only one hit, a single by Alex Dickerson in the first inning, and walked three. At one point, Albright retired 15 Rockers batters in succession. His 12 strikeouts came within one of the Lancaster franchise record.
His Sunday efforts were so strong that a 5-3 loss in the series opener against High Point was overcome. He struck out seven and allowed four hits and three runs in that contest.
The former Arizona Diamondbacks farmhand is 2-2 with a 4.21 ERA on the season.
Lancaster heads to Staten Island to open a six-game series against the FerryHawks this week. Tuesday’s series opener is at 10:30 AM.
