Sugar Land Raps Out 17 Hits.

Skeeters Dump ‘Stormers, 11-2

The lopsided affairs continued at Constellation Field on Tuesday evening.

For the fourth consecutive evening, one side or the other pulled away with Sugar Land romping to an 11-2 win over the Barnstormers, pounding out 17 hits, the most against the Barnstormers in a game this season.

Lancaster grabbed the initial lead in the third.  Rico Noel doubled on a sinking liner to left center and scored as Trayvon Robinson chopped a double over the head of third baseman Bryan Pounds.  One out later, Sean Halton dropped a single into center for a 2-0 lead.

Two batters later, it was tied.  Tommy Shirley (0-2) walked Derek Miller on five pitches to start the home third.  Joe Benson followed with a two-run homer to left center.  Josh Prince continued the Sugar Land surge with a bunt single along the third base line.  Kevin Ahrens followed that with the Skeeters’ second long ball of the inning, a drive down the left field line and onto the deck.

Sugar Land scored a fifth run on a single by Albert Cordero.

R.J. Hively recorded six straight outs before a double by Pounds, a triple by Cole Gillespie and a wild pitch produced two additional runs in the fifth.

RBI singles by Miller and Benson plus a two-run double by Travis Scott closed the scoring in the seventh.

Jake Hale (6-2) worked seven innings, allowing seven hits and two runs.  The right-hander walked two and struck out four on the night.

Dustin Richardson and Julio DePaula pitched a scoreless inning apiece to pin down the win for Sugar Land.

The six-game series will conclude on Wednesday morning at 11:05 CDT.  Lancaster will send Bryan Evans (5-3) to the mound for his second start of the series.  He will be opposed by right-hander Brett Marshall (6-4), who also started the series opener on Friday.  Fans may tune into the Barnstormers YouTube Channel, beginning at 11:50 AM EDT
