STORMERS SELECT JUSTIN NEEDLES IN DRAFT

Right-Hander a Product of Delaware

Former University of Delaware RHP Justin Needles was the Lancaster Stormers’ pick from the 2026 Indy Ball Jobs Pro Day held this week at Meritus Park in Hagerstown, Maryland.

The Stormers selected seventh in the draft, held in reverse order of the 2025 standings.

Needles, 24, pitched for two seasons at UNC-Asheville before transferring to Delaware.  The Philadelphia native was 4-0 with a save for the Blue Hens in 2025 after posting a combined 3-3 mark at Asheville in 2023 and 2024.

He has also compiled a 3-2 record and 3.88 ERA in two tours of duty in the MLB Draft League.

Needles joins another former UD Blue Hen, Joseph Carpenter, on the 2026 Stormers roster.

“I had spoken with Needles previously,” said manager Ross Peeples.  “He is from the area, and I am really impressed with his mound presence.”

The Stormers begin their quest for a fifth consecutive post-season bid on April 21st at York.  Three days later, the curtain will rise on the 21st season of play at Penn Medicine Park as the Long Island Ducks visit the Stormers for a 6:45 contest.
