STORMERS PLAY TO ANOTHER TIE

Wild Pitch in Seventh Knots Contest

A pitch slipped to the backstop in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring Jack Conley with the tying run as the Lancaster Stormers and visiting Black Sox played to a 4-4 tie Sunday afternoon at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

It was the second consecutive tie for Lancaster (0-2-3) against the Black Sox and the third overall in the last four days on the Stormers’ spring schedule.

Conley led off the home seventh with a sharp single down the third base line and took second on a base hit to right by Chris Proctor.  Kyle Hess forced Proctor at second.  Conley was able to race home from third when the third strike to Trace Loehr got through the legs of Black Sox catcher Jordan Siket.

All four Black Sox runs scored on the long ball.  John Mead led off the game with a blast off starter Jack Labosky.  A pair of homers by James Shubert, a solo shot off Labosky in the third and a two-run homer off Max Green in the fifth completed the scoring for the Black Sox.

Nico Hulsizer’s single to left center scored Gaige Howard, who had doubled, in the bottom of the first to tie the game at 1-1.  Lancaster added two more in the home fifth as walks to Kyle Hess and Nick Lucky around a single to right by Trace Loehr loaded the bases with one out.  Shawon Dunston, Jr. plated one with a long sac fly to center.  Isan Diaz plated the second of the inning with a single to left field that got Loehr home from third.

Lancaster will host the Black Sox at Lebanon Valley College’s McGill Field Monday at 5:30 in the final tuneup before the club takes to the road on Thursday to begin the regular season against the Long Island Ducks at 6:35.  That game, and all remaining regular season games, will be televised on FloBaseball.
