Mark Johnson brings over two decades of professional baseball experience to his role as the Lancaster Stormers’ pitching coach. A former first-round draft pick (Houston Astros, 1996) and MLB pitcher, he made his major league debut with the Detroit Tigers in 2000 and also spent time in several other systems — including the Dodgers and Tigers — until retiring in 2005.
After his playing career, Johnson transitioned to coaching within the Detroit Tigers organization, spending 15 seasons across multiple minor league affiliates from Single-A to Triple-A before joining Lancaster in March 2022. Under his leadership, the Stormers captured back-to-back Atlantic League titles in his first two seasons on staff.
Known for his strategic approach and deep understanding of arm mechanics, Johnson is widely respected for developing effective pitching rotations and strengthening performance across the roster. He returns for his third season in the bullpen coaching role as part of Ross Peeples’ core staff
