Robinson, Halton Earn Season Honors

The Lancaster Barnstormers announced their year-end awards prior to Thursday evening’s home game against the Long Island Ducks.

Outfielder Trayvon Robinson was named the 2017 Community Man of the Year by club officials.  The former Seattle Mariner becomes the first non-relief pitcher to win the award, dominated by Ross Peeples and Pete Andrelczyk over the years.

Robinson has been extremely accessible to media and whenever a quick appearance was needed in the ballpark.  The LA native’s 30^th birthday was turned into a 2-for-1 ticket deal at the ballpark, celebrating his jersey number of 21.

“It has been great having Trayvon here at Clipper Magazine Stadium this summer.  Not only has he been a great teammate in the clubhouse, he has been wonderful to have in our Lancaster County community whether it be visiting Little League events or committing extra time to our fans,” said general manager Mike Reynolds.

Corner infielder/outfielder Sean Halton was chosen as the Player of the Year by Barnstormers fans in online balloting.  In his second year with the Barnstormers, the former Milwaukee Brewer has consistently ranked among the league leaders in home runs, runs batted in, total bases, extra base hits and slugging percentage, not to mention topping the charts in getting hit by a pitch.  Earlier this season, he tied a franchise record by hitting three grand slams in one campaign.  He has also put together a club season-high hitting streak of 13 and RBI streak of eight and has set the single season record for sacrifice flies.

All of this while starting the last 102 games at four different positions, moving from corner to corner, infield to outfield, seamlessly.

“Sean has been a great player for us since he has been here,” said manager Ross Peeples.  “He comes ready to play each and every day.  Sean is just an all-around professional and goes about his business the right way.”
