Replay America: The Ultimate 80’s Festival Comes to Clipper Magazine Stadium July 30th

American Music Theatre is thrilled to present five iconic rock artists together in concert in our latest downtown Lancaster concert, held at Clipper Magazine Stadium, featuring Billy Ocean, Starship featuring Mickey Thomas, Taylor Dayne, The Motels featuring Martha Davis, and Naked Eyes. Doors open at 3:30pm.

Billy Ocean has sold over 30 million records in his lifetime. He has collected a pile of Gold and Platinum records across the world and hit the #1 spot worldwide on pop charts including the U.S., Australia, Germany, Holland, and the UK. The calypso crazy kid’s second single, “Love Really Hurts Without You,” reached No. 2 in the UK charts and No. 12 in the U.S. His million selling American #1 single “Caribbean Queen” (for which Billy won a Grammy for best R&B Vocal,) was followed by “Loverboy” and “Suddenly,” which became the first of Billy’s killer ballads. More hits followed with “When the Going Gets Tough (the Tough Get Going),” “There’ll be Sad Songs (to Make You Cry,)” and “Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car.”

Mickey Thomas is the owner of the soaring voice that propelled Starship through the decades of the 80’s and 90’s. Mickey made his mark in 1976 as lead vocalist on the mega-hit “Fooled Around and Fell in Love” with the Elvin Bishop Band. In 1979, Mickey joined Jefferson Starship as lead vocalist, and the band immediately scored a #1 hit with “Jane.” With this new sound and powerful new vocals, the group was renamed Starship and continued to record an amazing string of hits including “No Way Out,” “We Built This City,” “Sara,” “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now,” “Find Your Way Back,” “Stranger,” “Laying It on the Line,” and “It’s Not Over Till It’s Over.”

From platinum pop songs to chart-topping dance hits, Taylor Dayne is one of the most popular vocalists of the modern age. She has enjoyed Top 10 hits in three consequent decades, selling a combined 75 million singles and albums along the way. With the release of her first two albums, 1988’s Tell It to My Heart and 1989’s Can’t Fight Fate, Dayne racked up three #1 singles – “Tell It to My Heart,” “ Love Will Lead You Back,” and “Prove Your Love to Me.”

The self titled debut album by The Motels was greeted with positive critical reviews and produced the #2 pop single, “Total Control.” Their sophomore effort, “Careful,” went Top 50, and the smash single “Only The Lonely” rocketed into the Top 10, helping earn The Motels a Best Performance award at the 1982 American Music Awards. Numerous additional hits followed including “Suddenly Last Summer,” “Remember the Nights,” and “Shame.”

Admiring the sound of the great girl singers of the 1960’s, Naked Eyes recorded the Burt Bacharach/Hal David tune “Always Something There To Remind Me,” which immediately exploded into the Top Ten, followed by the self-penned “Promises, Promises” and “When The Lights Go Out.” The back to back to back hits resulted in massive U.S. radio airplay and an almost constant presence on MTV. More hit singles followed, including “(What) In The Name of Love” and “Love Changes (Everything).”

This general admission, rain or shine concert will be held at Clipper Magazine Stadium, 650 North Prince Street, Lancaster. No re-admission allowed at Clipper Magazine Stadium. No camcorders, recorders, or cameras permitted.
