Lancaster Roster Close to Completion
The Lancaster Stormers have signed third baseman Tyler Miller and RHP Adam Smith to contracts for the upcoming season, it was announced today by manager Ross Peeples.
With this pair of signings, the Stormers now have 23 players on the roster for the upcoming campaign.
Miller, 26, has spent the last five seasons in the Boston Red Sox farm system after being selected by Boston in the ninth round of the 2021 draft out of Auburn University. In his inaugural season in the Red Sox chain, the corner infielder batted a combined .327 with 20 RBI in 27 games. He hit 13 homers at Class A Salem the following season before eventually moving to Class AA Portland. Miller also played four games at Class AAA Worcester in 2024.
He is a career .238 hitter with 38 homers in 412 games. The Alabama native has also accrued 48 stolen bases.
With Auburn, he hit .313 with 16 homers his final season.
“Miller will anchor third base for us and probably bat in the middle of the order,” said Peeples. “He brings a good presence to our lineup and will also be an asset in the clubhouse.”
Smith, 25, has been in the professional ranks for the last five seasons, three with the San Diego Padres and two with the Boston Red Sox, after being drafted by San Diego out of UNC-Wilmington in 2021.
The West Chester native’s best season came last year, when we went 7-3 with a 3.44 ERA at Class A+ Greenville. The right-hander yielded only 52 hits in 73.1 innings of work while walking 29 and striking out 72.
He had a stellar collegiate career, going 6-1 with six saves and a 2.37 ERA for the Seahawks. Smith struck out 83 in 83.2 innings pitched.
“Smith can both relieve and start,” said Peeples. “He will probably open the season as a starter. We look forward to watching him compete.”
The Stormers begin their quest for a fifth consecutive trip to the playoffs at York on April 21. Three days later, the curtain opens on another season at Penn Medicine Park on Friday, April 24 at 6:45, as the Stormers take on the Long Island Ducks.
