STORMERS ADD McCOLLOUGH TO ROTATION
Former Villanova Right-Hander Acquired in Trade
The Lancaster Stormers have acquired right-hander Luke McCollough in a trade with the Washington Wild Things of the Frontier League, it was announced today. He was picked up for a player to be named later.
McCollough, 24, is in his first pro season and had made two appearances for the Wild Things. He had pitched for Villanova University in the spring and posted a 5-2 record and 4.06 ERA in his second season with the Wildcats. He had been 5-4 a year ago.
Prior to Villanova, the California native had pitched for the University of Cincinnati and Utah Valley State.
“Luke is a guy that is stretched out and will begin as a starter for us,” said manager Ross Peeples. “He is a younger guy from college that we will give an opportunity and see how he does here.”
He will be making the start for the Stormers in their Wednesday game against Southern Maryland. Lancaster is home through Thursday before heading to Long Island for the upcoming weekend.
