Lancaster Barnstormers right fielder Blake Gailen has won numerous Atlantic League honors over the years, including being named the circuit’s Player of the Year in 2012.
He can now add another.
Gailen was named the league’s Player of the Month for June it was announced today by league president Rick White.
The veteran outfielder, playing in his seventh season in Lancaster, batted .337 for the month while slugging nine homers and driving in 26 runs. In addition to the power numbers, Gailen also stole eight bases.
Heading into Friday’s action, he leads the league with 14 home runs and 52 runs batted in for the season. He is Lancaster’s all-time leader in homers (85) and RBI (325) as well as several other offensive categories.
“Over the course of a season, the preparation to feel good on a daily basis is sometimes a grind, so it’s gratifying and appreciated to be recognized with an honor such as this mid-season,” said Gailen.
“Blake has been great for us all year,” said manager Ross Peeples. “He has anchored the middle of our lineup and is a tough out every time up.”
