LET THE GAMES BEGIN! STORMERS ANNOUNCE FIRST SIGNINGS OF 2026!

The Lancaster Stormers have signed outfielder Jake Thompson and right-handed pitcher Jason Bollman as their first players for the upcoming 2026 season, it was announced today by manager Ross Peeples.

Thompson, 27, spent the previous four seasons in the Miami organization after completing his collegiate career at Oklahoma State.  The Minnesota native spent a portion of the 2023 and 2024 seasons, as well as all of 2025, at Class AA Pensacola.  He hit .268 with 24 home runs in 237 career games.

The lefty batter had a prolific final season with the Cowboys in 2022, finishing seventh in the big 12 in batting at .350 and third in RBI with 67.

“Jake will play the outfield for us and may fill in at third base from time to time,” said Peeples.  “We believe we are getting a solid all-around player, who will probably fit in the middle of our order.  He is also the type of human being we like representing our organization.”

Bollman, 25, was one of the top performers in the MLB Draft League in 2025, going 6-3 with a 4.55 ERA for the West Virginia Black Bears.  He tied for the league lead in wins, led the circuit with 57.1 innings pitched and finished sixth with 54 strikeouts, while only walking 18.  Bollman fired two complete games within league competition.  He was named the MLBDL Pitcher of the Week twice and was chosen as the MVP of the second half.

The Illinois native has also had short stints in the Frontier and Pioneer Leagues.  In his collegiate career, he signed with the University of Oklahoma and Louisiana State at various points.  He took the hill three times for the Sooners in 2024.

“Jason is a big righty who will start for us,” said Peeples.  “He comes highly recommended from a couple people.  We got some positive reports, and we want to bring him in to showcase what he has.”

The Stormers open their 2026 season against the defending champion York Revolution on Tuesday, April 21.  Three days later, Penn Medicine Park will host the home opener against the Long Island Ducks.

Lancaster will be seeking its fifth consecutive trip to the post-season and its third Atlantic League title in five years.
