DUCK, DUCK WIN

Duck, Duck, Win.

Barnstormers Take Game Two of Series Over Ducks, 9-0

Brent Teller (2-1) pitched eight scoreless for the Lancaster Barnstormers as he notched five strikeouts and allowed only three hits for a 9-0 win over the Long Island Ducks.

The stellar effort kept the ā€˜Stormers undefeated (5-0) at home in 2022.

Teller opened the night striking out the first two batters, ex-Barnstormers Vladimir Frias and Alejandro de Aza, before allowing a ground single to Rusney Castillo.  The right-hander proceeded to reel off 14 consecutive outs until Deven Marrero reached him for a line drive single to right in the sixth.

Anderson Feliz went 3-for-4 in the game, including two doubles and two RBIā€™s. Andretty Cordero also drove in two as did Trace Loehr without registering a base hit.

Meanwhile, the Barnstormers found their offense in the second inning. After Marc Zagunis took a walk, Anderson Feliz doubled to center.  Connor Lien produced the first run with a bloop single to left center.  Trace Loehr lifted a medium fly to right, but Feliz was able to race home for the 2-0 lead. Shortly after, the Barnstormers filled the bases, but Hunter Caudelle (0-1) and the Duckā€™s outfield stopped the bleeding and prevented Lancaster from adding onto their early lead.

The Barnstormers picked up where they left off in the second inning as Cordero led off with a double down the third base line. Two batters later, Feliz hit his second double of the night on a sinking liner to right center that brought Cordero home to stretch the lead to three. Zagunis strode home again as Loehr bounced out to first base. Hoover walked, but the Barnstormers gambled and lost on a double steal attempt to end the inning.

In the seventh inning, the Barnstormers produced four more runs.  With two on and one out,  Cordero lined a single into right center to score Melvin Mercedes.  LeDarious Clark also crossed as de Aza allowed the ball to skip beyond him.  Shortly after, Feliz plated one more on a single to center field. Feliz stole second, and the Ducks committed their second error of the night when Joe DeCarloā€™s throw skipped into center.

Cordero drove in the final Lancaster run on a force play ground ball.

Tyler LaPorte pitched the ninth to complete the shutout, inducing a grounder by Sam Travis after giving up a single and a walk with two outs.

The Barnstormers will close out the series against the Ducks with a Thursday matinee. Fans may tune into the Barnstormers YouTube Channel at 10:55.  Augie Sylk (0-3) will try to earn the sweep for Lancaster against fellow lefty Cody Beckman (1-0).
