De La Rosa, Bullpen Beat York!

Lancaster Back in Tie with Division Rival

The race is back to a dead heat!

Anderson De La Rosa drove in three runs, and the Barnstormers bullpen was able to fend off York for the final three innings as Lancaster defeated the Revolution, 7-5, in the middle game of a three-game series.

The two clubs are now tied atop the Freedom Division with 21 games remaining in the second half.

Sean Halton gave the Barnstormers a 1-0 lead with a two-out RBI single in the third inning.  In the fourth, Revs starter Victor Mateo (6-8) walked the bases loaded, and De La Rosa rapped a 1-0 pitch into left center for a two-run single.  Mateo appeared to be working out of the inning, but Lance Zawadzki and De La Rosa pulled off a double steal on a strikeout of Garrett Weber.  Zawadzki scored on a single to left by Cole Garner, and De La Rosa romped home on a wild pitch for a 5-0 lead.

York battle back on a two-run homer by Isaias Tejeda off Tommy Shirley (3-4) in the bottom of the fourth inning, but a double play took York our of a further scoring chance in the inning.

De La Rosa and Beau Amaral singled home runs in the bottom of the fifth for a 7-2 lead, which held into the sixth.

Alexi Casilla led off the sixth with a bloop hit to left and scored on a one-out homer by Telvin Nash, a blast to the left of the batter’s eye.

Two batters later, Dayron Varona connected for York’s third homer of the night, another towering fly to left center.

Kevin Munson loaded the bases on two walks and a hit batsman in the seventh, but John Kuchno came on to retire Nash on a fly ball to center.  Kuchno remained in the game for a perfect eighth, and Scott Shuman survived a one-out infield single in the ninth for his second save.

Lancaster will attempt to sweep the series on Sunday afternoon in a matchup of left-handers Rommie Lewis (8-10) and Frank Gailey (10-9).  Fans may tune into the Barnstormers YouTube Channel, starting at 12:45.
