Barnstormers’ New Neighbor Backs Community Cup Effort

With the current version of the War of the Roses entering its 13^th season, there is a brand-new sponsor on the Lancaster side.

The Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital has been named the title sponsor of the Lancaster Barnstormers when they take on the York Revolution in their annual series, it was jointly announced today.

During those games, the Barnstormers will be clad in specially designed “Strike out the Stigma” jerseys.  These jerseys will also be worn at selected other home games in May, which has been designated as Mental Health Awareness Month.  During May, organizations in the area will utilize Clipper Magazine Stadium to educate the public on mental health topics and the resources available to them to seek help.

“We anticipate our partnership with the Barnstormers will allow LBHH to support and educate the community residents about mental health and the resources this community has to help everyone,” said Gina Cavorsi, M.D., Chief Medical Officer for the hospital.  “We want people to know that 1 in 5 individuals are affected by mental illness, and everyone can benefit from treatment and support.”

“We are excited to partner with LBHH to communicate the message about an important cause, mental health awareness,” said Barnstormers general manager Mike Reynolds.  “This partnership is a unique idea in order to ‘strike out the stigma.’”

The facility, located on Harrisburg Avenue, just a long home run to left from Clipper Magazine Stadium, offers both inpatient and outpatient services.

Lancaster currently holds the Community Cup after winning ten of 18 meetings with the Revolution in 2018.  The Barnstormers have won the series six of the first 12 years with York taking five seasons.  There was a tie between the clubs in 2012.

The “Strike out the Stigma” jerseys will first be worn on Memorial Day Weekend, when the Barnstormers travel across the river for a three-game set.  York will visit Clipper Magazine Stadium for the first time in 2019 on June 14 to begin a four-game weekend series.  The Revolution will also cross to the east side of the Susquehanna for a July 5-7 series as well as for Lancaster’ s final home set of the 2019 campaign, September 13-15 and wrap up the season series, September 20-22 in York.
