Barnstormers Bang Out 18 Hits in Win!

Winning Streak Stretches to Four

Garrett Weber led an 18-hit attack, going 4-for-5 as the Lancaster Barnstormers bounced back from an early 5-0 deficit for a 10-5 victory over the New Britain Bees Wednesday evening at New Britain Stadium.

The Barnstormers have won four in a row and nine of 12 since the All-Star Break and have pushed their Freedom Division lead to two games over the York Revolution.

Jon Griffin had staked New Britain to a 3-0 lead with a long homer to left center in the second, and the Bees used singles by Jake McGuiggan and Jovan Rosa plus an error by Trayvon Robinson in left to score a fourth run in the third.  Jordan Hinshaw followed with an RBI single for the 5-0 lead.

Jarrett Leverett (7-5) was able to settle down and pitch three scoreless innings afterward, allowing the Barnstormers to recover.

The Barnstormers struck for four two-out runs in the fourth inning.  With runners at first and second, Nate Coronado stroked a deep drive to left that Conor Bierfeldt failed to control as two runs scored.  Lastings Milledge followed with a double into the left field corner to cut the lead to 5-3.  Weber reached when his liner to shortstop Mike Baca was dropped for an error, and Anderson De La Rosa dropped a base hit into shallow left center for the fourth run.

Milledge and Weber started the sixth with singles off Kyle Simon (6-8).  De La Rosa moved the runners up with a bunt, and Josh Bell singled to right center, driving in both for the lead.

The Barnstormers were able to repeat the process in the seventh and ninth innings.  They loaded the bases off Brandon Fry and Mike Hepple with one out in the seventh.  Milledge struck out looking, but Weber followed with a two-run single to left.  Again, in the ninth, Lancaster loaded the sacks with one out.  Bell fanned against Brandon Shimo, but Robinson backed it up with a two-run single to center.

Meanwhile, John Anderson and Kevin Munson combined to throw three no-hit innings to finish off the Lancaster win.

Rommie Lewis (5-7) will square off against Greg Nappo (0-0) in a matchup of lefties on Thursday evening at 6:35.  Fans may tune into the Barnstormers YouTube Channel, starting at 6:15.
