BARNSTORMERS ADD WALL TO STAFF

Ex-Dodger Becomes Part of Bullpen

The Lancaster Barnstormers have signed RHP Josh Wall, it was announced today by manager Butch Hobson.

Wall, 29, has appeared in 15 big league games with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim from 2012-14.  The native of Louisiana signed with the Dodgers as their second round selection in 2005 and served as a starter in their organization for his first six seasons.

He moved to the bullpen with Class AA Chattanooga in 2011, then became the closer at Class AAA Albuquerque in 2012.  He saved 28 games in the 2012 season and struck out 52 in 53 2/3 innings.

He made his Major League debut on July 22, 2012, throwing a scoreless inning against the New York Mets.

He was traded to the Miami Marlins along with Angel Sanchez for Steven Ames and Ricky Nolasco before the 2013 trade deadline and later was claimed off waivers by the Angels.

Last season, the right-hander was 2-3 with a 2.45 ERA in 29 appearances with Pittsburgh¹s Class AAA affiliate in Indianapolis.  Wall was released this season by the Chicago White Sox.

“It is good to have someone of his experience,” said Hobson. “I look forward to having his arm in the bullpen.”
