Lancaster Inks Lefty, Righty
The Lancaster Barnstormers have signed left-handed reliever Ryan Dennick, it was announced today by manager Butch Hobson.
The southpaw has Major League experience with the Cincinnati Reds while Doyle went 12-1 in the Class AA Eastern League last season.
Dennick, 29, appeared in eight games with the Reds in 2014. The left-hander from the Cleveland suburbs was originally signed by the Kansas City Royals in 2009 and moved over to the Reds organization in 2013. He had his best year in 2014, going 4-0 with a 2.36 ERA in 57 appearances for Class AAA Louisville, earning his promotion to the Major Leagues.
Last season, Dennick was 4-2 with a 5.08 ERA in the Cincinnati and Los Angeles Dodgers organizations. He appeared in 51 games.
To make room on the roster, the Barnstormers released left-handed starting pitcher Brandon Bixler, who was 0-2 in two starts. They also announce that catcher/infielder Scott David has been acquired by Quebec City of the Canadian-American Association.
“From what we hear, Ryan is a lefty that attacks the zone,” said Hobson. “He can get lefties out, but also the right-handers.”
