Outfielder Beau Amaral, a member of the 2017 Lancaster Barnstormers, has recently signed a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners organization, it was announced in trade publication Baseball America.
Amaral, 27, joined the Barnstormers in July of last season. The left-handed batting outfielder hit .293 over 54 games with the Barnstormers, belting three home runs and driving in 26. One of his home runs was of the inside-the-park variety, providing the game winning runs in a 12-11 victory over Sugar Land on August 5. He also tripled three times in three days, August 8-10.
Prior to his arrival in Lancaster, the UCLA product spent five seasons in the Cincinnati Reds organization, twice reaching Class AAA Louisville. He stole 40 bases for Class A Dayton in 2013 and batted a combined .301 at the Class A level in ’14.
He has had three at bats with the big league team in spring training, 2018.
“Beau came in last year and brought some energy and leadership to our team,” said Lancaster manager Ross Peeples. “I enjoyed watching his play the games because he plays the right way. We wish him the best.”
