Right-Hander Pitches Lancaster to 3-1 Win

Brooks Hall stymied the Atlantic League’s hottest hitting team for seven innings on Monday afternoon as the Barnstormers toppled the York Revolution, 3-1, in the opener of a five-game, home-and-home series at People’s Bank Park.

Hall (1-1) carried a no-hitter into the seventh, then survived a leadoff double by Elmer Reyes, getting a grounder and two strikeouts around a walk to third baseman Carlos Franco.  He finished the night with two walks and nine strikeouts.

Tyler Suellentrop retired the side in order on ground balls in the eighth.  West Tunnell picked up two more grounders in the ninth before J.C. Encarnacion rode a 1-2 breaking pitch over the boards in left center to break up the combined shutout bid.  Tunnell punctuated the night with a strikeout of Nellie Rodriguez for his third save.

Lancaster reached Austin Nicely (2-6) for a pair of runs in the first inning.  With one out, Melvin Mercedes dropped a single into shallow center.  Following a long fly out by Kelly Dugan, Andretty Cordero rifled a single into left.  LeDarious Clark pulled a line drive past a diving try by Encarnacion to score the first run.  Nicely uncorked a wild pitch with Colton Shaver at the plate to bring Cordero home with the second marker.

The Barnstormers were not able to extend the lead after back-to-back singles opened the second and had to wait until the sixth to score again.  Cordero singled over second base and advanced on a walk to Clark.  Shaver singled past short to plate the run for the 3-0 lead.

York will host the Barnstormers in a doubleheader on Tuesday.  The first game will be the first half finale for Lancaster; the nightcap will open the second half.  Augie Sylk (3-6) will pitch the opener with Cameron Gann (4-5) working in the nightcap for Lancaster.  Fans may tune into the YouTube channel, starting at 4:55.
